...day 5 pics, finally...

Well, you have been patient, and for that I am grateful! So, I'll cut right to the chase and get straight to Friday's outfit.  As previously mentioned, prepare to be underwhelmed, but that's what chill days are for, right?  Everyone has to have days where you just wear comfy jeans.  I was headed to my sister's house in Temple and knew we wouldn't being doing anything where I needed to dress up, just chillin' with my nieces & nephews, so I wasn't worried about looking especially nice.  Here are the fun pics my oldest sister, Katy took of me at her house:

Beautiful day for some fun pics outside.
Brick red cardie - Nordstrom's
Jeans - Gap
Shoes - DSW
Necklace - Klassy Kreations (my sisters' company)

I'm going to tell you a little secret.  Right now you're thinking, Kasey shops at Nordstrom's?  I would think that too.  Well, just a few weeks ago my fabulous friends, Emily & Elaine introduced me to the shopping find of the year! The Nordstrom's Jr's section.  I will admit, I was skeptical.  I can't tell y'all the last time I shopped in any Jr's section.  I didn't think it would fit me right and I thought, "It's Nordstrom's, it can't be affordable."  But I was wrong! The Jr's section is very affordable and has cute clothes, not super teeny bopper, ya know what I mean?  Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say it's cheap, but it's definitely competitive with other department stores.  So, there's my tip for the day.  If you live in a big city where there is a Nordstrom's, give it a try!

Tried to have some fun on the trampoline...had some trouble with the timing...these are the best 2 out of at least 10! haha!

Close up of the shoes.

Had to include one with this cute lil guy!

Day 6, still no pics :(

Let's just say my day started at 6:30 this morning to my precious niece wimpering for someone (me) to come get her out of her crib. It is just now ending after a 3 hour concert in which the fire alarm went off multiple times and the last time for at least 30 mins, making a loud (annoying) sound. There was a lot of shopping and driving in between those 2 events and now my legs are aching as I crawl into bed. All that to say, I regret to inform you that you are not going to be seeing a pic of today's outfit in this post. I am kind of sorry abt that, just not sorry enough to go pull up my computer, dowload pics and write a proper post. So, this will have to suffice as my post for NaBloPoMo and I promise to catch up on pics tomorrow. Just think, that's 3 outfits you'll get to see tomorrow! Woohoo, I bet you're so excited now that you are going to have a hard time sleeping. Sorry about that.

On a happy note: I get to turn my clock back right now, so it's only 10:04 right now! Happy day!

G'nite!

Day 5, not in the jive

I am really really sorry, but I have some unfortunate news. My sister's Internet is down and I can't for the life of me get the photos from my camera to save onto my phone...so...my day 5 pics will have to wait til tomorrow, or Sunday. I will tell you 2 things:

1. My outfit is not exciting. It was a chill Friday, which was a challenge because I don't have many chill clothes in my 30.
2. My sister took some pretty cute pics at her house, so they're worth waiting for!

Again, I'm sorry to dissappoint. I will inturn tell you something cool that happened to me today.

I woke up this morning and saw that there was a facebook promo deal where the first 10,000 ppl to "check in" at the Gap got a free pair of jeans. Read: $60 value! I debated for a while and finally my mom convinced me to go, so sure enough I got there abt 10 mins before the store opened, I "checked in" and got my coupon for free jeans! I ended up getting a pair for someone else as a Christmas present! Cha-ching! Sweet gift for free! Woohoo!

...day 4, not having fun anymore...

Well, here it is day 4 and I'm already struggling.  Today I was back to typical Kasey, I went through about 3 or 4 different variations on this outfit before I settled on something.  And let me just tell you, I'm still not 100% sure about it.  Let's just say this, I DEFINITELY NEVER would have put this combination together otherwise, which I think is supposed to be part of the purpose of this challenge, right?

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't think this means that I am going to struggle for the next 26 days.  I have plenty of other outfits still to go, I just wasn't in the mood for any of the easy "go to" outfits that I can wear to church on Sunday or when I want to look a little dressier for work.  Thursdays are usually my semi-casual day, which basically means no black pants or dress skirt, but at the same time it doesn't mean jeans and a t-shirt, which is why I struggled today.  I digress.

Before I show you the pics, I MUST give a shout out to my photog, Rebs, and her assistant, Raquie.  These girls have been integral in helping me come up with various locations at work to take pics, helped with lighting, even provided a camera when I forgot mine (for the past 3 days...oops).  Today, I was uber high maintenance because we took pics in the morning, but I wasn't pleased with them, so we did a second photo shoot outside for better lighting...like I said, they are amazing.  And in just about 10 days Rebs will be heading out to Cali for the remainder of November, so Raquie will have to pick up the slack, and we think she's gonna do a fine job.  So girls, thanks for being an integral part of this 30 in 30 challenge.

If you know me well at all, you know I like to layer, ok, I love to layer, and today is a product of that.  I just don't know when to say when.  It's a problem.  Shall we count the layers? 1-tights, 2-ruffle shirt, 3-black dress, 4-grey cardie, 5-purple belt

Yes, the ruffles are my throw back to George Washington (ha!).

 Ruffle shirt - JC Penny's
Grey Cardie - Stein Mart
Purple belt - NY & Co
Purple ruffle shoes - Kohl's (for $10! I love a good deal!)

A sad attempt at a jumping pic...we never got the timing right, maybe if I remember to bring my camera some time I'll get a good one for ya!

Now, let's see what I come up with for weekend wear...this may be the biggest challenge yet!

...day by day 3...

Today was easy.  It was probably the coldest day this Fall, so I knew I was ready to bust out a pair of my new boots!  I love this dress that my sister got me last Christmas, so like I said, today was easy.  I think the challenge is going to be to reinvent this dress later in the challenge, but I think I'm up for it!  That's what makes it a challenge, right?!?

So, without further ado, I present you with remix 3:

scarf: New York & Co...one of my fave stores!

boots: DSW...one of my new fave stores!

I don't think you can tell, but I'm trying to rock the tall sock peeking out from under the tall boot look.  Yes, the boots, tights and socks are all brown, so its hard to see.

Purse: Jessica Simpson (not my preference, but hey, it's cute) from Macy's

And yes, it actually was raining today! I kind of enjoyed it.  I like getting to bust out warm clothes that I haven't worn in about 10 months!

Catch ya on the flip side!

...day 2 of 30...

Well, I know you guys have been checking in all day, waiting to see what I wore to work today...riiiiiight...

Either way, thanks for checking back in.

Today I had a good idea for what I wanted to wear, but in the end, still ended up with a combination that I probably otherwise wouldn't have put together.  But, I liked what I came up with and felt pretty cute, well, I guess I'll let you be the judge. So, I guess, so far, so good...

Today's remix:

Printed sweater: Kohl's
Scarf: Kohl's
Shbooties: Charlotte Rouse

I think I'm gonna have to come up with something else to talk about in these posts...this isn't very exciting...I have a feeling week one is the easiest to come up with combinations, maybe it gets a bit more challenging/embarrassing as I have to continue to come up with new combinations.  I'm thinking I may have gone too easy on myself letting me pick 30 articles of clothes PLUS 8 pairs of shoes...maybe next time I'll stick to the rules.

...nablopomo & 30 in 30...

Well, here it is, November 1st and do I have a treat for you!

That's right, I've decided to participate in nablopomo (National Blog Posting Month), which obviously means I will be posting EVERY DAY this month!

Not only that, but...

in addition, I will be participating in fashion challenge of sorts.

A few weeks ago a friend of mine introduced me to this blog: kendieveryday.

Then last week another friend of mine mentioned it on her blog.

So I was showing this fun blog to another dear friend of mine, Rebecca.  And we decided that maybe, just maybe I should take on Kendi's 30 in 30 challenge.  What is this challenge I speak of?  Well, here are the rules from Kendi's blog:

1. Pick out 30 items from your closet. Shoes are included in the count, coats and accessories are not. (I won't use a coat yet here in Texas, but you might in say Chicago so I don't want to penalize you for Mother Nature's wily ways.)
2. Remix the 30 items into 30 or more outfits.
And that's it! Ok -- not totally.

3. No shopping for 30 days.

Here are my modifications to her rules (ha!):

1. I didn't count shoes in my 30.  So, I chose 30 articles of clothing, plus 8 pairs of shoes.  Hey, it's my first time, maybe next time I'll be more strict.
2. I am not counting tank tops.  I do a lot of layering and I am just not ready to have to count them all in the 30 or not use them.
3.  This is actually a rule from Kendi, that she just doesn't list.  She says work out clothes don't count, so for me I'm interpreting that rule to be that lounge clothes don't count.  Hey, Thanksgiving is included in this 30 days, you got to give me some wiggle room here!

So, here are the clothes that Rebecca & I selected together that I will be "remixing" for the next 30 days:

5 tops...notice a trend?  All gray, black or white...oops! Accessories are my friend!

5 cardigans + 1 structured jacket

6 dresses...I know, that's a lot, but I have to go to church, ya know!

4 skirts...I'm actually surprised this isn't more, I love skirts!!! Hope this works out for me!

6 pairs of pants

1 pair of jeggings and 2 cardigans I forgot to put in the first cardie picture

8 pairs of shoes

My outfit today...drum roll please...
It was actually fun getting dressed today...we'll see if that lasts, ask me again on day 28! I loved having a limited selection of clothes to choose from in my closet.  Getting dressed is ALWAYS a huge ordeal for me.  I often put on an average of 3 outfits before I am set on what to wear for the day.  Not today! I hope this continues to be the case.  In true Kendi fashion, and since you are all dying to know how you too could get "my look," I thought I'd tell you where I got some of my items in this picture:

Cardigan: The Limited (I know, who still shops there?  I've recently rediscovered it!)
Shirt: JC Penny's
Belt: Kohl's

Welp, I hope ya'll enjoy this little challenge.  Oh, and Kendi just announced today that she is asking others to join her on another 30 in 30 challenge that she is starting next Monday, so you too can join in! If you decide to, PLEASE leave me a message so that I can follow along!

See ya tomorrow!
