...booger dress...

Yes, you read the title correctly. I said "booger dress." So, last weekend I was out running errands (and may I mention it was sweltering HOT!). I happened to be in TJMaxx, and I happened to see a cute summery dress, and I happened to try it on, and I happened to buy it. For $13!

I wore my new dress to work on Monday with some leggings, feeling super cute. Got tons of compliments, which made my bargain find all the more worth it. I guess it was after lunch, and I was brushing my hair off of my shoulder when I felt something hard on my dress. Initially, I thought it was a crumb or something from lunch, but it didn't just brush off.

I couldn't see whatever was on my dress very well because it was on the backside of my shoulder. I asked my intern what she thought it was and if she could get it off for me. It was at that point that we realized this foreign object was SEWN INTO my dress. My intern acted casual and said, "Eh, just leave it. It might make a hole if you tried to remove the mystery item."

After another 5-10 mins, I was not ok leaving this random thing in my dress. I happened to see another girl intern and asked her to inspect the situation. She acted non challant and said something along the same lines as my intern. Thanks for nothing girls!

So now, I was on a mission of removal of this extra addition to my new dress. I saw the 3rd girl intern and told her she had to inspect my dress. Upon looking we still had no clue what the said object was, but we could tell it wasn't budging. That's when genius struck and intern #3 said, "I have tweezers with me!" So, out came the tweezers for full extraction of the wedged item.

It took some work to pull the item out from under several (read: 6-8) threads, but intern #3 was determined. She was finally successful, and upon further inspection, we both were disgustingly confident that the foreign object was nothing other than...

....A BOOGER!

Y'all, I'm not kidding. We were both so grossed out that intern #3 flung the booger and started telling everyone I was wearing a booger dress! Ha! Needless to say, I didn't really feel very cute anymore, and this dress is forever going to be known as "booger dress."

Ok, obviously this is crazy and isn't a normal occurrence, but I guess my $13 steal came with something a little extra! Ugh! I'm not sure if you've put it all together, but all I can guess is that the booger belonged to either the dress maker, or more likely the fabric maker. NASTY!

Lesson learned: fully inspect ALL clothing before purchasing, especially at discount stores!

...new look...

I had been bouncing around the idea of getting bangs. So I mentioned it to my hairstylist and of course she jumped at the idea. So, as of Saturday, this is my new look...we'll see how long they stick around or if I get sick of 'em and just let them grow out. I've gotten quite a nice response from everyone, which is super encouraging, I guess I'm just not sure if it looks like me, ya know?  My nephew (Brady, 9) said I reminded him of someone, he just couldn't figure out who...I suggested maybe it was Velma from Scooby Doo (the glasses really help the comparison)...you be the judge (the 1st and 3rd pictures are both Velma from one of the Scooby Doo movies, even though it may not appear so).

 I may have just uncovered my next Halloween costume idea!  

...who I am...

I feel the need to post more often, so, since I can't seem to come up with much exciting, or creative or have any new pictures to share...I thought I would borrow this from my friend Lindsay's blog:

I love...my new house! God was so good in blessing me with it!

I ache...to see my nieces and nephews more often! Seriously miss them!

I always...wear make-up! This is drastically different from when I was in college, but now I can't leave home without it!

I usually...talk to someone in my family on the phone every day (and none of them live in Houston).

I am not...good at keeping my house clean.  The laundry, the dishes, the clutter...it's unending!

I dance...shamelessly and any chance I get!!!

I sing...OFTEN and LOUD! In the car, in the shower, at church, in the grocery store...I'm sure its obnoxious to those around me, I always seem to have a song stuck in my head, so I choose to share it with others.  Most recently, it is often "BECAUSE YOU'RE AMAZING...JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!!!" In all caps because yes, I sing it at the top of my lungs!

I never...thought I would be living the life I am today! Thank you God for the blessings in my life and the journey you have brought me through!

I sometimes...wish I were more spontaneous! I've become so much of a planner that I rarely do something spur of the moment, like I used to in college!

I cry...rarely.  Seriously, it's a fault of mine.  I wish I could cry more.  We're talking 3-4 times a year...max.  I have started to where my eyes will well up more often, like at a wedding or funeral, but if you've ever seen me with tears running down my face, know that it's a rare sight.

I am not always...sarcastic, but people probably think I am! ha!

I lose...at Words With Friends more often than I would like :(

I am confused...by politics, Int'l affairs, economics...you get the gist!

I need...very little.  The truth is I am very blessed and hope to not take that for granted!

I should...blog more often!

...Spring Break/Birthdays/Zoo...

A month ago I headed to Temple to spend a few days with the fam.  2 of my nephews have birthdays 3 days apart, that also happen to fall right around Spring Break.  This makes for some great time for the fam to all gather, since the rest of the fam (not me) actually get a Spring Break.  So, we celebrated birthdays. One turned 3, the other 9.  Sorry, no pix :(  For the 3 year old's party I was too busy painting faces, as it was a Circus theme and we were all given assignments.

The day after the party it was nice weather and we decided to hit up the glorious Waco Zoo.  I had actually never been to the Waco Zoo.  It was a good outting with all 6 kids.  Here are some pics to document the occasion:

Stinky hut/teepee thing.  To be honest with you, I don't know why there was a hut at the Zoo...I'm sure it has some kind of educational purpose.

Macie was so good the whole time at the Zoo, just sat in her stroller, enjoying the day.  When we got to the giraffe's she pulled herself up to see those crazy looking things! She loved the giraffes!

Traditional flamingo pose, even though you can't see any flamingos in the picture (other than the imposters).  When I say traditional pose, I mean that I am relatively sure that my sisters & I have a picture like this in front of a flamingo exhibit.  I am 100% sure that we have another pic of these kids doing the same thing about 4 years ago at the Houston Zoo!

Goings on...

If I were a good blogger, which I think we all know I haven't been for some time, I would take the time to download some pics from as of late. But I'm not on my laptop and it would be too complicated to download the pics, then email them to myself so that I can post them on this post, since I'm using my iPad. What's that you ask? When did I get an iPad...oh I picked one up on Monday. Let me be the first to tell you it's pretty fun! It's pretty amazing the unlimited things it can do!

Ok, ok your guilt trip worked, these aren't the pics I was referring to, but they are my iPhone pics, so you can get a glimpse of the random shots I've gotten lately. Consider yourself blessed, consider me amazing ;)

This is me standing in front of Tony Romo's locker at the new Cowboy stadium. Pretty fun to tour it, but a bit disgusting to think about the money that went into that thing!

Several weeks ago I hosted 8 7th grade girls at my house for Spark weekend (our church's D-Now). Super fun and exhausting weekend. Here is a pic of my girls collecting cans for the Mission Centers of Houston.






Last weekend I was in Temple with my family celebrating 2 nephews' birthdays. This is a random pic of my precious niece, Macie, that one of the other nephews took, I think.







I had lunch today with a great couple from my church. The place we went has peacocks roaming on the property. This is one of the THREE males that was spreading his feathers for us! So beautiful! When's the last time you saw that?







This one is for my dad. My parents came last weekend to help me spruce up my flower beds. Here is the fruit of your labor, dad! Beautiful azaleas blooming already! Oh, and thanks for planting that tree in the back yard, dad!
