...day 8, pink + brown = fate...

Well, I still have a few more articles of clothing that have yet to be incorporated, so today I challenged myself by forcing myself to choose clothes that I had not yet worn, so no repeats yet!  It wasn't too challenging, but it also resulted in a somewhat common, boring, everyday outfit, which I guess is sometimes nice too.

Kind of a random spot for photos, I know.  Sorry, I thought the stained glass would be nice, instead it's just me standing by a white wall...well, I guess that accentuates the outfit, right? ha!

Magenta cardie with pewter studded buttons: NY & Co
Brown velvet pants: NY & Co (notice a trend yet?)
Shoes: Kohl's

Ok, it's confession time: I'm feeling a bit guilty about selecting 30 items, plus 8 pairs of shoes, plus not counting tanks (like the cream one pictured above).  I mean, it's nice to have the wiggle room, but I'm wondering if I've given myself enough of a challenge.  So, in an effort to tighten the reigns a bit, I'm going to eliminate a few items that I haven't worn yet.  I'm not sure exactly which items or how many, but I think there are at least 3 or 4 items that I have yet to wear that I can live without for the next 22 days.  I'll let you know if I make a formal decision on which items to cut, or if I just wait til the end to see if there are any items that I never wore.  We shall see.

I have one more issue of business to deal with before I sign off.  One of my avid readers, "T", has presented me with a fashion question.  I am honored that she thought to come here to Day by Day in search of help with this conundrum. She left a comment asking about how to wear boots with wide leg jeans.

T, please know, you are not alone in this!  I know many a girl who struggles with this same issue.  I know for a fact that myself, my sisters and some of my friends have fought this battle of boot vs. wide leg jean.  There are a few remedies that I would like to offer you.

1.  What I thought was the best option, circa 2007.  This is a good option if you're trying to not spend money and just want to work with what you have (which is what I did until recently).  Allow me to suggest the tight rolled jean/folded lower section of the jean, tucked into a sock.  This keeps the jean as slim as possible, allowing the boot to fit over it, depending on the boot.

2. What I knew was a good option, but never took part in, circa 2009: the skinny jean.  It really was a genius invention.  Many girls made purchases and it worked really great to wear the skinny jean with the boots over them.  If you like skinny jeans, I would recommend this option as well.  I myself, have never purchased a pair.

3. What I now believe is the best option, circa 2010, JEGGINGS!!!! I will admit, I was skeptical at first, but I love my new jeggings and I would recommend them to anyone.  What's that you ask?  What is a jegging?  A jean + legging, of course!  Basically it is a stretchy pair of jeans.  The great thing about jeggings is they come in a variety of materials and price ranges.  I have seen cotton jeggings that just look like denim (pretty cheap), and I have seen (and own) a pair of super stretchy denim jeggings.  They are amazing and work GREAT with boots! The only thing I think might be even better is if they had stirrups on them, like back in the day!

Here is Taylor Swift rocking the jeggings & boots...

Finally, T, I would like to present you with one, final option:

4.  Wear boots with dresses/skirts.  This is one of my fave ways to wear boots! Note: girl in picture is not me, ha!

T, I hope this helps! I'm so glad you came to me for help! Not that I'm a fashion guru by any means, but if any of you other readers out there have questions for me, bring it on!  I love a good challenge!

Yes this does help! I think if I got some boots, I would try #1 first since I don't want to spend the money on boots and jeans. I like brown boots better than black, I just think they look more cozy somehow, but I was thinking I might go for black because then I could wear them with my black leggings. I still can't believe skinny jeans and jeggings are back in style. I know, I am way behind on the times. But I do see their practicality with the boot. We shall see... Abby did say boots are very popular in Turkey right now. Thanks for the advise!!!
