...Aunt Bubba & Aunt Sue...

Last night Rebecca and I babysat our adopted niece, Libery Grace Henderson. When she was born Liberty didn't have any aunts, so sad, I know! So, Rebs and I, being expert Aunts, were deemed honorary aunts. Last night was the first time that Janelle & Chris had left Liberty with anyone outside of the family!!! A huge honor, and good bonding time for us with sweet Liberty.

In attempt honor her mother's wishes and not over-use the nickname "Libby", we decided to come up with as many nick names for Liberty as we could. Here's what we came up with throughout the night:
  • Libster
  • Luby
  • Lupe
  • Puddin Pie
  • Bertie
  • Bird
  • lady lib
  • little lady
  • Libs
As you can see, we got a little silly with the whole nickname idea, it really was a fun game though. Here are some fun pics we took to commemorate Liberty's first time with babysitters!

making funny baby faces!

i know, i'm weird, but i love sad baby faces!

I like to see them smile too! I'm not that horrible!

...say something brilliant...

Almost every time I post, I wish I had something extravagent, exciting, shocking, fun, well ya know, to write about. But the reality is, there's just not a whole lot to write about.

Let's see...I was feeling up for something new, so I rearranged the furniture in my living room tonight. Yeah, I know, random. We'll see, I'm not sure how I feel about it, but I wasn't going to put it back tonight, I'll atleast leave it like this for a few weeks.

The only other thing I thought I might share with my blogging audience today was that I've been wishing I got together more with people in Houston. C'mon, I know I'm not the only one! There are several friends that I wish I saw more, kept in touch with, but instead, days go by, weeks, and we haven't talked or seen each other. I blame this on the fact that Houston is so darn big. Even though we live in the same city we could still live 30-45 mins apart. With schedules and traffic, it seems easier to just not call or email and not make an effort. Well guess what - this is me not making excuses anymore! I'm really going to try and get together with people on a more regular basis. I'm already been doing better, I'm having lunch with a friend tomorrow. So, I'll keep you posted about future friend get togethers!

Super Duper: Babysitting precious baby Liberty on Friday night!
Super Pooper: LOTS of reading, projects, papers...sometimes I forget I'm in school and this gets me in trouble, dang it!

...you're the only 10-I-see...

the past 7 days have been great, long, eventful, hectic, educational, fun, entertaining, well-traveled, tiring, worth-while, and great for seeing old friends and making new ones.

For those of you who aren't clued in, I left last Sunday for a National Preschool & Children's Ministry Conference in Nashville, TN. All in all it was a great week. I know I've been in a bullet/listing but, it's just so darn efficient.

So, here's the highlights from this past week (in chronological order):
  • Monday night we went to the Annie Moses Band concert at the Nashville Symphony Hall - in a word, AMAZING!

  • Wonderful worship team and pastor from a church in the Nashville area lead us in worship on Tuesday & Wednesday mornings!

  • Tuesday night we skipped out on the scheduled events and went to a nice relaxing dinner at Macaroni Grill. I hadn't been there in ages, and I got the chocolate cake!!! MY FAVORITE!!! Plus, it was just relaxing to sit down and have a nice dinner!

  • Wednesday night I had dinner with 2 old friends from my Baylor days! So fun to see them and catch up!

  • I might should add that there were several great speakers like Thom Rainer (LifeWay Prez - or head guy, what ever his title is), Dr. Kevin Leman (world known author, and rather entertaining speaker!)

  • It was also great meeting some new people and reconnecting with others I had already met. It's so great to know other people that do the same thing you do day in and day out! I know that's cheesy, but it's so true!

I got back on Thursday evening, had a loverly dinner with Rebecca after she picked me up from the airport. Then I woke up Friday morning and headed to Temple to see Blake & Brady! Watched Brady score a goal in his soccer game this morning! Headed back to Houston in time for church tonight.

All in all a great, but busy week. It's kind of strange because just as nice as it is to be out of the office for a week, I'll be just as glad to get back in the office and resume the routine.

Super Duper: It was a GOR-GEOUS day today!!!

Super Pooper: It's starting to get dark so early...and it's only going to get worse when we turn the clocks back for day light savings time in November!

...wish list...

Just thought I'd give a little update before I head out tomorrow for Nashville (I'm going for a Preschool/Children's Ministry conference!!!). There's not really a whole heck of a lot going on. Things have been good this week. I promise, I'll try and come up with more exciting stuff, but for now, I'll follow Elaine's format of a "Top 10" list.

"Top 10 major purchases I wish I could make"

10. A monthly massage

9. A Roomba vacuum

8. New running shoes

7. Tickets to Hannah Montana in concert for my Ashlyn!

6. A plane ticket to Cali to see my Liesal!!!

5. Fall Wardrobe (including clothes & shoes!!!)

4. Douney & Burke zebra print with red piping purse (note: I have NEVER before cared for D&B, but this particular one is super cute...I'm also not sure that I would ever really spend that much on a purse, but it's so darn cute!)

3. Large duffel from Vera Bradley

2. New bedding (comforter, bed skirt, shams, sheets, the whole shabang = $$$), which would mean new curtains and other accessories in my bedroom as well.

1. Target "room divider" that I would use as a book shelf & to house my TV in my bedroom

Not sure when I'll get any or all of this, but we all have these lists, so I thought I'd share mine. I guess this shows how materialistic I am...bummer.

In other news (haha elaine!), mom is doing well. She is still waiting to get the results from the biopsy back, but the Dr seemed sure that it is basal cell carcinoma. In fact, they have already scheduled to remove it on Nov 15. Hopefully they will get it all, and we'll be done with this little episode. Thanks for praying!

I think that's about it, have a great week. I'll post about my trip when I get back...hopefully!

Super Duper: Contracts came around this week...my next paycheck will reflect a nice little raise!!

Super Pooper: Coughing up nasty stuff most of this week...need to get rid of that!

...please pray...

for my mom.

she has a spot on her face that is causing concern. she is having a biopsy tomorrow (Tues, 9/2). I think they think it is a basal cell...which is malignant, but treatable. Just pray that it is not melanoma, that is harder to treat and more dangerous. Please also pray that she relies on God and has faith in Him. She tends to over react and crater in times of stress. Also pray for my dad that he can comfort her and has the right words to say.

Thanks for your concern. I'll keep you updated.
