...scattegories...

I stole this from a friend of mine...thought it looked fun, and would be challenging with a "K".
Rules: Use the 1st letter of your name to answer each ...They MUST be real places, names, things...NOTHING made up! If you can't think of anything, skip it. Try to use different answers if the person before you had the same 1st initial. You CAN'T use your name for the boy/girl name question...

Your Name: Kasey
1. Famous Singer/Band: Keith Urban
2. 4 letter word: Kiss
3. Street: Kirkwood
4. Color: Khaki
5. Gifts/Presents: Kite
6. Vehicle: Kia
7. Things in a Souvenir Shop: Kids
8. Boy Name: Ken
9. Girl Name: Kelly
10. Movie Title: Karate Kid (double points for double "K"!!!)
11. Drink: Kahlua...not that I've ever tasted it...seriously
12. Occupation: Kindergarten Teacher
13. Flower: Kangaroo Paw (I had to look this up...yes, lame!)
14. Celebrity: Kevin Bacon
15. Magazine: Knit 'N Style (again, I had to google this, embarrassingly so. but Elaine, I did choose this one just for you!)
16. U.S. City: Keystone, CO
17. Pro Sports Teams: Kansas City Chiefs
18. Fruit: Kiwi (oooo, good one!!)
19. Reason for Being Late for Work: Keys got lost
20. Something You Throw Away: Ketchup (well, I try not to, since I love it so much, but inevitably, there is always some left over that must be thrown way)
21. Things You Shout: Keep Going!!!
22. Cartoon Character: King of the Hill (again, not my style, but it fits the bill)

Ok, that's it! Not super exciting, and disappointingly harder than I thought it would be. I love my name, but K is a hard letter...give it a try, I'd love to see what you come up with!

Super Duper: going to spend time with the fam this weekend. Haven't seen them in a solid 6 weeks, due for a good fix!
Super Pooper: I ordered non latex gloves for the church, and they delivered latex gloves!!! This is not good!

...randomness...

  • i overslept yesterday, didn't wake up til 9, didn't get to work til 10!!! i love that it didn't really even matter!!!
  • my soul wants to trust the Lord that He will provide all the VBS leadership that we need (yes we're still looking), but my flesh wants to freak out (b/c VBS is in 5 weeks!!!!)
  • today my boss told me to take an extra day off because I have to go to a seminar all day Saturday...too bad I have 2 assignments due that I haven't even started!!! so much for an extra day off!!!
  • oh, and tomorrow is my real day off...so much for that, I've been asked to come in and tour the new building with some kiddos. Don't get me wrong, it will be fun, but ON MY DAY OFF????
  • we've started a diet contest at work! We're divided up in to 2 teams and we'll weigh in every Monday on the honor system (because we don't want everyone knowing how much we each weigh). There is on girl, the accountant (who is prego and can't participate), who will be the tabulator of the percentage of weight lost. She will send us all update emails to let us know how each team is doing! I hope this is a great motivator!
  • next weekend my bro-in-law is graduating from Tarrelton State University. We'll be celebrating with him, also celebrating mother's day, also celebrate my oldest sister's (Katy) birthday (which is on mother's day), and then also throwing a little family baby shower for Kristy. Don't get me wrong, this is going to be super fun (and not to mention crazy), but did you notice that we'll be celebrating almost everyone in my family (except for me!!!) I don't mean to sound selfish, but its a bit of a bummer. Needless to say it will be a super fun, hectic weekend!!!

okay, i think that's the best (and worst) of it for now. until next time...

Super Duper: game night tonight with Jr Staff & spouses (yeah, I'm pumped about taking my spouse!!!)

Super Pooper: as always, apartment needs cleaning!

...i survived...

i don't have a whole lot of motivation to post right now, but i did want to update my faithful readers on the afore mentioned events of this past weekend.

please know that this past weekend went amazingly and looked fabulous, seriously, people showed up, had a great time, were appreciative of all the work, and thankful for all the VBS craft & decoration ideas.

I'm grateful that it went well, AND that's its over! Now, I can focus on the real thing, VBS, June 4-8...just a mere 6 weeks away!!!! Yikes, that's scary!

Well, sorry, but I figure I'll spare you the details on the rest. Things are still busy, I, like the crazy woman that I am, thought they might die down for a week or two...no no, the list is still long and the days seems soooo short. I'm confident it will all get done, I just try and not think about it too often.

Super Duper: Taking the day off on Thursday.
Super Pooper: Have to do homework on my day off!

...diadelVBS...

Today on Baylor campus was the ever loved diadeloso... a favorite day of all baylor students. one with no classes, games, competitions, performers, movies, food, sleeping in, hanging with friends, doing nothing if you so choose, hypnotists, dancers, fun had by all...

WELL TODAY WAS NO DIADELOSO FOR ME!!!! no, rather i had a diadelVBS. you see, this weekend VBS is life. Friday night I have a dinner with all the department directors, and then Saturday morning, we have a training session. I love it all, but it's been crazy work. Today was set up day for all of the above, from MASSIVE decorations, to organizing resources & curriculum, to getting the news that one of my presenters for the training Saturday isn't going to be able to make it!!!!

So not only stressed, but exhausted, both emotionally and physically. Don't get me wrong, it's all worth it, and hopefully will turn out well, but in the mean time, I'm pooped.

Super Duper: a day off tomorrow (that's if I actually get to take it, I worked late today in hopes of not going in to the office, we'll see...of course I do have the dinner tomorrow night, but that doesn't count.)
Super Pooper: apparently it's not a joy to work in VBS, because we have to literally beg people, whatever happened to wanting to teach children about Jesus???

...Cinderella is Wicked...

well...ok, so maybe she's not, but having gone to see Cinderella on Thursday night and Wicked last night, you can understand my inspiration for the title of this blog.

Let me start with Thursday's viewing of Cinderella. A friend of mine and I had decided to go downtown to Miller Outdoor Theatre (Amphitheatre style) to see Cinderella. It was just a local production of the age old fantasy, but it was especially fun since I knew 2 of the actresses. It was super fun. A little windy and chilly, but overall fun. I must briefly mention the fact that I was sitting on my blanket, waiting for Vickie and her little girl to show up, when up walks Clif and his girlfriend. Clif the single guy from Tallowood that I was optimistic about getting to know a few months ago. Remember, I'm sitting by myself, so then he proceeds to act awkward and not know what to say, and then joins his friends, who are sitting on the blanket right next to mine. It was perfectly awkward until Vickie showed up. Oh, and at the end, when the cast was bowing, the fairy god mother flew out over the audience, but she didn't land back on the stage, instead she ended up in the orchestra pit...it was scary (and slightly funny). All in all a fun night sitting outside watching a nice show.

So then last night my loverly friend Jamie had bought us tickets to Wicked, as my Christmas present. I had heard such wonderful things about it. It was amazing!!! The vocalists, the costumes, the storyline, all of it, quality!!! Seriously, I would highly recommend it to anyone. I would like to say that even thought it is based on the Wizard of Oz, it's not really appropriate for children. Most of the storyline is over their head, and the kid sitting next to me fell asleep during the second act...such a waste of an expensive ticket.

2 great nights of the Theatre (said in a snobby British accent). See, there are a few perks to living in the big city!!!

Super Duper: Will & Kristi's shower is tomorrow! I hope all goes well!!
Super Pooper: VBS Dinner & Training is next weekend, yikes!

...you can stop feeling sorry for me now...

Not only did I have a de-lish Easter lunch with friends, but my parents surprised me and stopped in Houston this afternoon on their way back to Corpus! Totally unexpected, just to make me feel special and loved (and because they felt guilty, haha!) No, really, it was so cute to see them excited to surprise me, and have them make that extra effort. We just hung out and then went to Guadalajara for dinner, I didn't eat since I had just eaten my yummy lamb, but we sat and talked. It was really nice! Yeah, my parents are awesome, I am loved!

Super Duper: life is good, all around, for the time being
Super Pooper: busy busy busy for the next 2 months (not necessarily in a bad way, just a stressful way)

...Easter Weekend...

Here's the deal. I have a limited # of Sundays I can take off per year (3 to be exact), that means that I need to be here on Easter weekend. Which is fine, this will be my 3rd Easter spent without my fam. The hard part this time has been that my parents left Corpus on Wednesday and spent time in Temple (with Katy & boys) and Waco (with Kristy & Ash) and then ended up in Arlington (with Kelly) on Thursday night. Yes, that's right. My parents saw EVERYONE else in my family BESIDES me!!! Feelin' the love!

No, no, seriously, I do understand, but that doesn't mean it's easy! But it was me decision not to go meet them for the day today. I just didn't want to be on the road again (I've been gone 3 out of 5 weekends in March). Plus, I really enjoy a calm weekend, and all the services that we have at Tallowood in conjunction with Easter weekend.

Also, before you start feeling too sorry for me, for spending Easter ALL alone, I do have lunch plans with a loverly family and other friends that are all having Easter lunch/dinner together! It will be a fun, relaxing time with friends! Nice to not be alone on Easter.

So, this weekend, I pray that you realize the sacrifice that was made for you and the magnificence of His Resurrection!!

Super Duper: I do have a new dress to wear on Sunday!!!
Super Pooper: Apartment needs cleaning and I have minimal motivation to clean it!

...if I'm being honest...

...I've reached a constant state of overwhelmedness...

...I wish I spent more time alone with God...

...I wish my prince charming would stop and ask for directions, because I think he's lost his way...

...I love being pampered, like getting a pedicure, and my nails done...

...I hate having to pick and choose whose weddings I can go to because I have a limited # of vacation days, boo...

...I wish I were 2 sizes smaller...

...I am constantly amazed by the generosity of our God...

...I love getting new clothes and shoes, especially for Spring!!!

...sometimes I wish I could see the future...

...I still miss college days, and it's been over 2 years, that's just sad...

...sometimes I wonder why He chooses to use me...

...I know I am blessed with an amazing family, and I hope I don't take them for granted...

I could probably unpack each of those statements, but I'll let them just speak for themselves. I am grateful to my God for the blessings in my life and hope that this Easter season we all appreciate and recognize the sacrifice that was made for us on the cross.

Happy Holy Week!

Super Duper: I called my mom when I was getting my pedicure and she said to go ahead and have my nails done too, and to put it all on her credit card!!!

Super Pooper: My knee has been hurting for a week now from last week's softball game...no more playing catcher for me! I'm gettin' old!
