...1 lump or 2...

Since my good man Clay holds such a dear place in my heart, I thought I would title this post upon his suggestion.

I would like to take a survey. How many of you know what that phrase, "1 lump or 2" is in reference to?

Allow me to explain. Last night at a very lively singles gathering at Rob & Will's we found ourselves playing a competitive game of catch phrase. I'm sure you are all familiar with this game. Well first let me prepare you that not all of the phrases that you are supposed to catch are rated G. That's right. We were playing this friendly game, let me remind you with a church group, when I get the word 'orgy'. Oh yes! I got a little flustered and then decided that it was unnecessary to explain that word. So we all had a good laugh about it, but still, quite inappropriate!

So then we keep playing, laughing, having a good time when I get the phrase "1 lump or 2". I look at it and have no clue what that would be in reference to. I've never heard it used in a common conversation. I didn't even know how to start explaining it so that my team would guess this phrase. So I start trying to get them to guess the word lump. I was describing portions and servings and trying to get them to say lump...but of course, none of them were getting it. So, alas, I resorted to the OH SO AWKWARD option of mentioning cancer. Of course they were so thrown off and never ended up getting the phrase, but when they found out that I had said cancer, trying to get them to guess lump, they died. Little did they know that I was about to be more specific and start explaining breast cancer...talk about AWKWARD in mixed company!! It was hilarious!!! They made fun of me about it for the rest of the night!! Oh, we all had a good laugh! But still, quite awkward moments stemming from the wonderful game of catch phrase!

Super Duper: going on Women's Ministry Retreat this weekend (I didn't realize I was a woman, haha)

...i'm trying to post more often...

i'm not sure why. partially because i am always excited to see new posts from my friends. let's see, what happened to me today. Oh, I know. Give me your honest feed back, here's the anecdote:

I walk into a room where we are about to have a meeting only to find that the lights won't turn on. There are several (3 or 4) ppl right behind me. I tell them that the lights won't turn on and that we should use a different room. The head Administrative minister a the church (my boss' boss) tells me to just turn on the lights. I look at him and say, "I tried, they won't turn on. Are you doubting my competence to turn on the lights?" Then they all started laughing at me and making fun of me for using the word competence. They start saying, "Did you say, 'doubting my incompetence?' 'We are fully aware of your incompetence' 'You are obviously not competent' etc etc. Seriously this went on for several minutes. I was okay with a few quick stabs, but it went on and on... :( I started feeling really dumb.

So my question to you is, was what I said really that funny? They said that "competence" isn't a word. You can have incompetence, and be competent, but you can't have competence...hmmm.

I looked this up, here's webster's definition of competence: the quality of being competent; adequacy; possession of required skill, knowledge, qualification, or capacity.

So it is a word, ha! I guess I accepted the fact a long time ago that I'm easy to poke fun at!

Super Duper: my sister & bro-in-law get back from Africa tomorrow!!!
Super Pooper: I REALLY wanted to go to hip hop tonight, but neither of my hip hop friends replied to my email, so I didn't go...

...The sun is shining!!!

That's right!!! After a very dreary and cold week, the sun has found it's way out from behind the clouds!! It's a beautiful day!!

Let's see, what's up? Well, I made a spontaneous trip to Temple on Friday and back yesterday. My parents were in Temple taking care of Blake & Brady because Katy & Brent are in Africa. They'll get back on Tuesday. On Thursday I'll be heading to Ft. Worth/Arlington to stay with Kelly while I attend a weekend class for seminary. There will be 2 more weekends that I head up there in March to finish out the class. My other class starts on Tuesday, here at the extension, but I'm missing that class because I'll be picking up my sister & bro-in-law up from the airport.

Hmm...let's see, what else? Oh, my boss asked me to be in charge of VBS for Preschool!! This is huge, scary, crazy, overwhelming...but for some reason I said yes, I'm not sure what I was thinking! I have found myself already over thinking and trying to plan ahead as much as possible. I am trying to be super organized and have already bought some things to assist me in handling this mountain before me!

That's all I got for now. Check ya later!

Super Duper: Kristi was in town today and I got to see her for a second!
Super Pooper: my Christmas tree is still up....need to take it down!!!

...unexpected...

I'm guessing that this post is unexpected to most of you. I have been less frequent in my posting the last 6 months or so. I've been lucky just to get one in a week. This will be my second post this week!!! I know, shocking! Here's the deal, I'm not even sure that there's anything to post about, but nonetheless, here I am, posting.

Random facts about me (I suppose you could say inspired by Lainey, who was inspired by Jen):
  • my Christmas tree is still up (I know, lame!)
  • I should be cleaning my apartment right now, I still have my suitcase out in my bedroom, stuff from my stocking is still in my living room, laundry to do, the list goes on!
  • It's rather warm today, but I don't want to turn my A.C. on because it's supposed to freeze tomorrow night! So I'm sitting here with my windows open, but it feels really really humid in my apartment...gross, but not worth turning the A.C. on and then back to the heater in a few days...so I'm stuck with this humid apartment for today, and maybe tomorrow!
  • Why does Saturday morning T.V. have to suck? It's about the only time during the week that I wish I had cable, I usually just end up popping in an episode (or 4) of Gilmore Girls!!!
  • Despite the lack of good shows on Sat morn, I still love Zack & Cody!
  • My "healthy eating plan" and "working out" for 2007 isn't going so well...my goal was to lose 25 lbs in 2007, not gain 25 lbs!!!
  • I secretly hope that this is the last season of G.G. I know, what kind of fan am I to hope that, but I can't stand it anymore, they've already broken my heart with Lorelei marrying Chris & not Luke!!!

That's all I've got for now...sorry, I know, lame! Anywho, have a great rest of the weekend, and maybe I'll be better this year about posting more often!

Super Duper: It's the weekend! Had a fun game night last night with random peeps!

Super Pooper: Don't know when I'll get to see my family again! Man, I miss those kids!

...exciting news...

this headline is a teaser! i'm not the one with exciting news...no, no, in fact things are quite status quo around here. rather, everyone else around me is full of "exciting news" let's see...i know 4 couples that got engaged over the holidays! and 2 girls at work are pregnant, oh, my sister's pregnant too!!! and don't even get me started on how many other couples are already engaged and how many weddings i have this spring/summer/fall!!! don't get me wrong, i'm uber excited for all of the previously mentioned ppl, but it's just out of control!!! seriously, i feel like everyone except for me has exciting news!!! i'm not married, i'm not pregnant, i'm not moving and i don't have a new job!

but maybe that's a good thing, huh? there's something to be said about being "settled" and not having to adjust or stress or whatever comes along with "exciting news".

No, really, i'm not complaining, I just thought I would vent, since I seemingly am living a rather boring, mundane life. Funny, I didn't realize or think my life was uneventful, until I heard everyone else's news...that'll bring you down! haha, i'm fine, really! Just wanted to throw myself a pitty party!

Super Duper: school doesn't start for 2 more weeks!
Super Pooper: the music minister at our church is leaving :(

...Home for the Holidays, 2006...

I'm too lazy to go into detail about all the events of my going home. Let's just say I was home for 11 days. It was great, for the most part. Of course there were some tense moments, but all in all it was good to be home and spend Christmas with the fam. All 11 of us where home for 5 days straight!!! In the midst of that 3 got the stomache bug, and we had a bridesmaids luncheon, rehersal dinner and wedding to attend!!! Here are some pics to recount the highlights.

Precious Ash & Bray on the slide in my parent's backyard!!!

Kelly & I before the wedding

The whole fam at the reception...too bad I look ridiculous!

Ash & Brady being adorable!!!

Super Duper: No school for 3 more weeks

Super Pooper: All my friends are out of town and I have nothing to do!!!
