Yup, I'm home sick today :( actually, I came home sick from work yesterday. I had a low grade fever (100.3*), but then once I got the fever down, it didn't came back, until this morning, preventing me from going to work again. perfect.
So, I've discovered that this being home sick thing isn't all it's cracked up to be. Not only do I feel like I need to be at work getting stuff done, but I feel guilty about "resting" while I'm at home, feeling like I should be doing dishes or laundry or something...oh, the inner struggle.
And, as you all know, there is no convenient time to be sick. Today I am missing an important VBS planning meeting that I was supposed to lead. Thankfully this team has been together for several years, and I know they are going to have a great meeting without me. Tomorrow I was supposed to have a friend over to hang out and have coffee...yeah, probably gonna have to reschedule that, and my haircut on Friday is iffy...
So, in the mean time, I'm doing what you're supposed to do when you're sick, getting plenty of rest, drinking lots of liquids and for lack of a better word, being a lazy bum.
Here's to hoping I DON'T wake up with a fever tomorrow!

...mom's 60th surprise party...
Welp, we pulled it off! A HUGE Surprise for my mom's 60th birthday!!!
Here's how it went down.
Here's how it went down.
- I told her I was coming in town on Thursday night, her actual birthday.
- My 3 sisters told her that they would meet her in San Marcos to shop on Saturday, following her birthday. They had done this before, so this was totally believable.
- On Friday while my mom was at work I ran errands like, getting balloons, a cake and cheesecake, etc, and hid all of the decorations upstairs and took the cakes to my mom's best friend's house (yes, everyone was in on this!)
- On Friday afternoon I got my mom out of the house after school to go shopping, then we picked my dad up and went to dinner. When we came back from dinner, all 3 of my sisters, 1 brother-in-law, 4 nephews, 2 nieces and about 20 family friends were all waiting to surprise her at the house.
Surprise!!! The kids attacking her as she walked in the door!
My mom with all 6 of her grandkids. Yes, we all dressed in theme! The boys & Ashlyn had shirts that said things like: "Kiki is Berry Old" "Happy 60th Grams!" "You're How Many?" "And Many More..."
The only bummer was everyone at the party wished we had told them to dress in theme too! I hate that I didn't get a picture of my sisters & I with my mom, of course we were all dressed in zebra & pink too! We even made my mom change when she got to the party! ha!
Here's my mom opening her presents. We had family pictures taken back at Thanksgiving. She hadn't seen them yet.
Here are 2 of the pics we gave her:
candid of all 6 grandkids! One of my faves! There is another one where they are all dog-piling on top of each other! A.DOR.A.BLE!
Well, all that to say, it was a blast surprising my mom! The kids especially loved it. Plus, it was fun for most of my family to get to be together on an occasion other than Christmas or Thanksgiving.
Mom, I hope you know how much we love you! You do so much for us ALL of the time, this was something special we wanted to do for you!
Happy 60th!
