So, last time I posted I was on my way to spend the weekend at a lake house with a fabulous group of friends! It was awesome! Good times with old friends and new friends! Soooo great to get away and really relax with friends! Can't wait to do it again!
Then I was off for a week to the LifeWay National Kids Conference. I spent the week reconnecting with other Children's Ministers and sitting in sessions that ranged from topics about personality traits, leadership qualities and dreaming big! It was a great and beneficial week!
Then this past weekend was one of my favorite weekends of the year: Baylor Homecoming! It was a different type of Homecoming, as it seems less and less of my friends seem to be returning, but it was still great! I drove in Thursday night to my sister's house and stayed with them. My parents arrived late that night. We stayed up til 2am working on necklaces for my sisters to show at a Craft Fair on Saturday. Then we kept my niece and nephews on Friday, ran errands and made more necklaces on Friday. Friday evening I headed to Waco to meet Brian, Elaine, Kristy & Molly for dinner at our traditional spot, Rudy's! Good food and good friends! After dinner, Brian & Elaine and I headed to the bonfire. It was a perfect night for the bonfire and fun to see a few old friends, even though we didn't see as many as we are accustomed to in previous years. The highlight of the night...COMMON GROUNDS!!! Nothing compares to a frozen snickers from Common Grounds! MMmmmmhmmmm!!
Saturday we woke up early and a large portion of my family headed to the Baylor Homecoming Parade! Another traditional part of the weekend. 2 of my sisters were showing their necklaces, but the rest of us were there. That makes for 5 adults and 6 kids in 3 cars...it was craziness, but worth it! Probably the funniest part was that most of the time I was holding my sweet baby niece, Macie. Can you imagine running in to someone you haven't seen in a year or two, holding a 2 month old baby...um, yeah...I'm not married and I work at a church, this does not look good. I desperately wanted a shirt that said, "This is not my baby!" Thankfully, I think most people I saw know me well enough to know that it wasn't my baby. But I have to wonder those acquaintances I barely knew who saw me from afar...did they wonder??? Anywho, then we lunched after the parade and went to check in with my sisters at the Craft Fair. It was great spending time with my family!
I'm sure by now you've noticed one huge aspect of this post that is missing: pictures! It's almost unforgivable, but my camera is broken, I tried to take a few pics with my iphone, but it's rather lame quality, so I guess the latter half of 2009 will not be documented in photo form, which makes me very very sad. The plan is to get a camera for my birthday/Christmas, hint hint mom & dad!
Ok, well, I do apologize for the hiatus of posting, and I do plan to jump on the NaBloPoMo wagon...which will be quite a switch for me since I seem to be posting less and less, well, at least it might give you, the anticipating reader, some hope, at least for the month of November anyways, but I can't promise that the posts will be worthwhile (sorry for the run on sentence!).
