...lately...

Yup, I got to spend Labor Day with 3 loverly ladies!!! Em, Lainey, Kate & I talked and ate and chatted and ate and sipped and ate and shopped and ate and chilled, just like old times. It was glorious!

this week i've gotten to play with the cricut at work!!! sooooo much fun!

I went to the first week of Beth Moore Bible Study on Tuesday night. The crowd was unbelievable!!! I think there were 4,000 people in there!!!

Jeff & Erin are back stateside and I got to see them briefly on Tuesday! I think we're hanging out tomorrow!!!

Scott & Abby are also back in town for a few months. We are having a party for/with them tomorrow night, just like old times :)

I miss Macie like crazie, actually, I miss all 6 of my nieces & nephews and can't wait to see them next weekend. In fact, there's part of me that's tempted to take an extra day off so as to get even more time with them...hmmm...we shall see.

I've been trying to figure out how to get to a Baylor football game this season. The trouble is that I only have one Sunday left to take off and I need to save it for Christmas, so a Saturday afternoon/night football game is kinda hard to swing...we'll see what I can work out. Of course everyone is talking about the Baylor vs. Tech game that is the Saturday after Thanksgiving at Cowboy stadium...very tempting, but hard to get to and get back for church on time.

I got a new green cover for my iphone and I'm really happy with it!

Oh, I also got a $15 purse that now that I've been carrying it for about a week, I'm not in love with, which isn't a big deal because it was only $15, but now I've found a new purse that I'm fond of, and it's only $36, which isn't horrible, but is it justifiable? Hmmm...here's the purse, ok, wait, when I saw it in the store they only had brown & cream. I liked the cream. Now that I went to find it on the website I learned that they have it in purple. I was kind of already thinking I wanted a purple purse this fall...dang it, now I really want the purple purse!

Welp, that's about all I got for now! Hope all is well with you. Sorry I'm a slacker blogger these days, I guess I just don't have that much to say...I guarantee another post and new pics after I spend next weekend with the loves of my life! Til then, much love!

...let's review...

May has been terrifically calm...somewhat.

I forced myself to stay in town...I think this is my 3rd weekend in town in a row!! Considering my travel schedule in February, March & April, this is a HUGE feat!

I finished school...and got straight As this semester!

VBS madness is at its height...9 days and counting!

June is going to be terrifically crazy!!!

I fly out next Friday morning for Lillian's wedding weekend festivities. I'll be in Plano a total of 32 hours! Then fly back to Houston on Saturday night.

Sunday is VBS set up day!!! Always crazy and fun and exhausting...last minute details needing to come together. Oh, and did I mention my mom and 2 nephews will be arriving as well???? Good times.

Then of course, Monday - Friday (June 9-13) is VBS, with mom & nephews bunking at my apartment!

Then Friday (last day of VBS) my sister comes to pick up the boys and take them home. Mom stays til Saturday to help me get ready for Camp Tallowood!

Sunday I leave for Camp Tallowood (June 15-20)! I'm uber pumped about going...just hope I have some energy left after VBS!

Get back on Friday the 20th and my parents will be coming in town some time that weekend for us to celebrate Father's Day & my dad's birthday!

Then I have a few days in the office, and down time to get ready for (drum roll please.....) AUNT'S WEEKEND!!! I leave Wednesday night, June 25 for Temple. Then Thursday morning I load up the 2 boys, head to Waco, pick up Ashlyn, and head to Dallas with the 3 kids in my back seat! Yikes! I know, you're dying to know the theme this year - Aunt's Weekend: Where Kids Rule! We're doing a Prince & Princess theme, think Medieval Times, capes, crowns...oh, and the kids will get to decide on a lot of what we do, since kids rule!

So there you have it, June is gone in a flash! So far July looks calmer...just a few weekend trips, maybe Schlitterbaun, San Antonio with friends? Should be doable!

Hope you all have a great summer! I'll post as often as I can...but we'll see!

Super Duper: Dave & Jess Ray's CD release concert tonight. then all night middle school lock-in!
Super Pooper: not sleeping all night!

...the traveling years...

So, I've decided that when I look back on this time in my life, I will call this my traveling years.

March has been CRAZY!!! I was on the road 4 out of 5 weekends!! My poor little car! And poor little me! I'm exhausted and miss just being home! My apartment has suffered greatly because I usually only clean on the weekends so, well, that just hasn't happened.

The good news is, at this point in time, I don't have any plans to travel in the month of April!!! Now, I'm confident this may change! I'd like to make it to Temple to see Brady play T-ball, and see lil Bradley again! Then I'm also thinking about heading home...or my rents may come here, we'll see, that has yet to be decided. So, I could end up being gone some, but we'll see. I'm for sure gone the first weekend in May, so this staying at home is sure not to last tooo long.

My current goal is to stay in town for 14 days in a row!!! I'll let you know how that goes!

Other news:
  • we did NCAA brackets in the office...I needed Texas to win today :(
  • no more weekend classes in Ft Worth this semester!
  • I'm planning a trip to Cali to see my Liesal in late summer/early fall!!!
  • helping plan a Fah-bulous Gilmore Girls themed lingerie shower for Lillian...any GG gurooos out there that have ideas on how to make a lingerie shower reminiscent of GG...please share!
  • the new outlet mall is open...I'm ITCHING to go get my shop on!
  • still plenty of projects with school to keep me busy this month, then a nice summer break from classes!
  • VBS training is less than 3 weeks away!

Super Duper: got to have lunch and dinner with 2 different friends!

Super Pooper: car needs oil change, tires rotated & to DESPERATELY be washed...inside & out!

Saturday, February 16, 2008

...lately...

  • I've been re-watching every episode of GG...I'm in the 3rd season!!!
  • lots of school work that I'm putting off, but really need to be doing
  • had a less than thrilling V-day
  • I've had an urge to shop lately...
  • I'll be out of town for the next 4 weekends straight...yikes!
  • I don't get to be a SPARK leader this year
  • I'm annoyed because for 3 years now I've been able to leave my trash at the bottom of the stairs on Mon, Wed, Fri, mornings, instead of taking it all the way to the dumpster...and now, out of nowhere, my apt complex is taking that luxery away, from now on, I'll have to haul all my trash all the way to the dumpster...lame
  • i'm sick of eating out
  • haven't seen ashlyn & cole since Christmas...missing them!!!

Super Duper: spring is just around the corner!

Super Pooper: dirty apartment...I wonder how many times that has been my "Super Pooper" - WAY tooo many to count!

...200th post!!!

Yeop! This is my 200th post!!!
Here's pix of my new fah-bulously decorated office!!! The rents came up this weekend, we did some mad shopping and then hanging of pictures and arranging of furniture and this is how it ended up!!! Needless to say, I'm very well pleased!

view from standing at the door: desk, lamp, "JOY" painting that my friend made for me!!! & office chair, shelves & pictures on wall, vase with tall sticky things in the back, column with metal art thing...notice color scheme - red, black, and ice blue

red microsuede storage bench with 3 zebra print pillows (possibly my favorite part!!!), and book shelf with a few lucky ladybugs that survived the ladybug purge of 2008!

This is the view standing behind my desk. That is a black round swivvle chair on the other side of the desk, with a nice blue raw silk pillow, a plant & plant stand next to it, and yes, that good ole Baylor dipolma found a spot too!!

Well that's it!!! I love it and now it feels like home!

Super Duper: had a fun weekend with my parents here!

Super Pooper: its stormy outside, which would be fine if I were home, but I'm still at work, which means I have to get home in the gross rain, which means there is sure to be traffic, yuck!

...keeping my head above water...

that really is exactly how I feel these days. things are BEYOND CRAZY at work right now. We are preparing to move into the new building, and there is more than you could probably imagine to do!!!! It's exciting and fun, but to be honest, its terribly overwhelming!!! Where to start? Will it all get done? How do I prioritize? I could bore you with details, but just know that I don't have much time or energy to post, and for that I apologize, but well...what are you going to do about it huh? I hope you'll stick it out and still check my blog, even though posts are going to be few and far between for a few weeks. We start using the building on Feb 3, so things should slow down after that...I'm sure they won't be 100% signed sealed and delivered, but the pressure will at least be off! Thanks for understanding, and please keep me in your prayers! It's draining, emotionally, physically, stressful, and like I said, overwhelming. I know I can get through it, and will be stronger for it, but I will only make it with His strength!

Super Duper: my mom's helping me decorate my office, hopefully it will all come together!
Super Pooper: the "diet" isn't going soooo well...need to get back on it!

...a few things you might like to know...

well, let's face it, you might could care less, but here's some random tidbits about life lately:
  • officially put away all spring/summer shoes, sleeveless and short sleeve shirts, and capris, to make room in the closet for sweaters, boots, corduroy, you know, fall/winter gear!
  • i'm uber excited because it's ice skating season!!!
  • a friend of mine introduced me to google reader for keeping up with blogs that you read, and I LOVE IT (I highly recommend it)!!! I've started reading blogs from people I don't even know, like a girl who has quadruplets, and another one who had a baby born at 23 weeks...uber preemie. I don't know what it is, but I could read these blogs for hours!
  • cleaned my car from the inside out, no trash, no junk in the trunk (literally), and no nasty grime on the outside!!!
  • projected move date for the church offices is Dec 5-8!!!! I'll have 4 walls, a ceiling, and a door again!!!
  • going home on Wednesday night to be with my mom when she has the "spot" removed from her face
  • i've already started my Christmas list of what I'm getting everyone in my family (note: there's 13 of us now :O)!!! Gotta start now so I can spread out the spending!
  • I just figured out that my projected graduation date from seminary is December '09...I know, sounds far away, but at least I have a goal, right?

well, if a couple is 2 and a few is 3, then I'd say I surpassed my "few things" to fill you in on. That's the most of what I can think about for now.

Super Duper: it's almost time for Christmas music!!!

Super Pooper: the next 2 months are going to be MADNESS!!!

...you're the only 10-I-see...

the past 7 days have been great, long, eventful, hectic, educational, fun, entertaining, well-traveled, tiring, worth-while, and great for seeing old friends and making new ones.

For those of you who aren't clued in, I left last Sunday for a National Preschool & Children's Ministry Conference in Nashville, TN. All in all it was a great week. I know I've been in a bullet/listing but, it's just so darn efficient.

So, here's the highlights from this past week (in chronological order):
  • Monday night we went to the Annie Moses Band concert at the Nashville Symphony Hall - in a word, AMAZING!

  • Wonderful worship team and pastor from a church in the Nashville area lead us in worship on Tuesday & Wednesday mornings!

  • Tuesday night we skipped out on the scheduled events and went to a nice relaxing dinner at Macaroni Grill. I hadn't been there in ages, and I got the chocolate cake!!! MY FAVORITE!!! Plus, it was just relaxing to sit down and have a nice dinner!

  • Wednesday night I had dinner with 2 old friends from my Baylor days! So fun to see them and catch up!

  • I might should add that there were several great speakers like Thom Rainer (LifeWay Prez - or head guy, what ever his title is), Dr. Kevin Leman (world known author, and rather entertaining speaker!)

  • It was also great meeting some new people and reconnecting with others I had already met. It's so great to know other people that do the same thing you do day in and day out! I know that's cheesy, but it's so true!

I got back on Thursday evening, had a loverly dinner with Rebecca after she picked me up from the airport. Then I woke up Friday morning and headed to Temple to see Blake & Brady! Watched Brady score a goal in his soccer game this morning! Headed back to Houston in time for church tonight.

All in all a great, but busy week. It's kind of strange because just as nice as it is to be out of the office for a week, I'll be just as glad to get back in the office and resume the routine.

Super Duper: It was a GOR-GEOUS day today!!!

Super Pooper: It's starting to get dark so early...and it's only going to get worse when we turn the clocks back for day light savings time in November!

...so much to say...

such a wide variety of things i could fill ya'll in on...let's try bullet format for concise, yet comprehensive post

  • chill labor day, cleaned up the apt, got caught in the rain at the grocery, hung out with friends
  • had an awesome girls night last night, time of prayer, sharing, community...it really was GREAT, we're going to try and meet monthly, for encouragement, prayer, etc!!!! we're calling it "SPILL IT!!!"
  • found out today that the I-term that I need to take in January overlaps with a Children's Ministry Retreat that I was going to go to in January...major bummer! Not sure what I'm going to do, don't want to have to pick!
  • Jr Staff game night tomorrow night...should be fun!
  • Flag football on Saturday...we'll see how that goes!

...facebook=stalkerville...

yeah, i've reached a new level of stalker...but that's okay, atleast i can acknowledge it. So, mainly for elaine, but for all you bloggers out there that are dying to know if "he" has a girlfriend...after some extensive facebook stalking, I'm leaning towards yes. If I'm wrong, they at least used to date or hang out, I think....hmmm, that's pretty uncertain, but there is reason to be suspicious and certain things to make me think they are dating...so, it's probably best that I err on the side of caution and assume he does. That way if he doesn't, it's a nice surprise, right?

well, since I'm posting anyways, I'll update you that I flew to Dallas for my dear friend, Jae's wedding. It was uber beautiful. I'm so glad I was there! I'll post picks on facebook. If there's anyone who doesn't use facebook and would like to see pics, just let me know...I think most of you can see them on fb. Give me a few days though to get them uploaded.

Super Duper: My team won both our v-ball games today!!!
Super Pooper: I'm EXHAUSTED!!! because I had to wake up at 5:00am to catch a flight to make it to church on time...looooooonnnnnnnnnnnggggg day!

...does he have a girlfriend???

that's all I want to know!!! does he have a girlfriend??? maybe you can help me out on this...how friendly is a guy allowed to be if he has a girlfriend? and how do you tell if he's just a nice guy, or if he's flirting? and how much should you flirt back to give him a little encouragement? ugh! should I just ask our mutual friend if the guy has a girlfriend? or is that too bold? should I just put myself out there? what's the worst that could happen? is he interested, or am I just reading in to everything?

these are all the overanalytical questions that I ask myself, making nothing into something and just asking for drama! but hey, it keeps things interesting, adds a little spice to life.

sorry, i'm not really wanting to give any details about the situation, but rather just wanted to throw out my frustration...

things have been good lately. saw "Bourne Ultimatum" last weekend with some friends, the parents cam through town and took me to lunch, my sister, her husband and 2 boys were her Monday night and Tuesday. I'm headed to Dallas this weekend for Jae's weeding, should be fun!!!

that's the basics, oh, in recent news, Lillian and Josh got engaged, and Erin & Jeff got engaged...there's something in the water...I need to get me some of that water!

Super Duper: my volleyball team is in 6th place out of 18 teams!!!
Super Pooper: my office in the new building is kinda small and has a big pole in the middle of the wall with windows, but atleast I have an office and windows, right?

...real quick...

well, i suppose i owe ya'll a post. yes, i survived VBS last week. all went well, with a few minor issues to deal with, which is to be expected, i suppose. i'm still trying to recover, i took a 2 hr nap on Saturday AND Sunday!!! ...complete exhaustion...

Well, Will & Kristi's wedding was wonderful and fun!! So glad I was able to be there. I love them and both of their families so much, it was such a joy to be a part of it. Turned out Rebecca and I were house party too!!! Fun times!

I'll post some pictures, maybe, depending on the week...

Pray for me as VBS is now less than a week away!!! I'm sure all the details will come together, I'll just be glad when I've made it to this time next week. The stress will be over and I'll be able to sit back and enjoy the week of VBS!

Catch ya on the flip side.

Super Duper: My friends and I went and left 1600 dixie cups of water covering Will & Kristi's apartment!!! Welcome home guys!!!
Super Pooper: Need to catch up on my sleep...long weekend...little sleep...not very smart 1 week before VBS.

a few things...

...going on in my life:

  • I'm in the midst of VBS madness, hence the lack of posts.
  • I'm going home tomorrow, but my mom doesn't know it!!! Fun surprise!!!
  • A week from tomorrow I fly out to Lousiville for Will & Kristi's wedding!!!
  • I had a melt down last night about VBS...it happens to the best of us...it passed, I'm back on track now, I think...
  • I hope I remember how to truly relax come June 9
  • Lord, if you're reading this, could you send my husband soon?
  • Most of the interns have started by now, things are in full swing, summer is here, it's busy around the office.
  • Ashlyn & Brady are coming to VBS at T-wood :) and my mom's coming to take care of them while I'm still in VBS mode!!!
  • The last fresh episode of GG EVER aired last night. I personally was especially pleased with the final scene that made an illusion back to the final scene of the first episode of season one...it all comes full circle! I'm not happy that Rory turned Logan down though...NOT COOL!
  • Lots of summer weddings coming up!!!
  • I need a vacation, a real, get away, to not think and just enjoy life!
  • We're having a diet contest at work, so far I've lost 5.5 lbs...exciting, but 4.5 of that came off when I had strep...haha, I'll take what I can get!

Super Duper: Dinner at my favorite restaurant in Corpus tomorrow night!!!

Super Pooper: Some people say things not realizing the impact their words they have on you...boo.

...an eventful day of sitting at home...

Let's see, I could be at a wedding for 2 of my friends, a wedding shower for another friend of mine, or celebrating my bro-in-law's graduation for college with the rest of my family, but instead I sit on my couch "resting."

Wednesday night when I went to bed I was hit by what felt like a ton of bricks with strep throat. Of course I wasn't sure that's what it was until I went to the dr the next day, but let me just tell you I haven't felt that bad in a LOOOOOOOOONG time. I didn't sleep all night, had fever, chills, sweating, aches, my throat hurt, and I was very weak. About 7 am I called my mom and my boss and we all decided I would go to the dr ASAP. Well, my drs appt wasn't til 12:30, so I called my wonderful friend Abby Bertrand to see if she could bring me any kind of meds that might help break the fever. She did, and seriously saved my life!!! She definitely saw me at my worst, I couldn't even make it to the front door or sit up to take the medicine because I was so weak. The fever had gone down by the time my other hero of the day, Jessica Ray, came to take me to the dr. We had decided that I was in no shape to be driving so she came and saved the day. The dr saw that I was in pretty bad shape and said I had full blown intense strain of strep throat (lucky me). He was glad I hadn't come alone, he said I was in no shape to be driving (maybe since I couldn't even sit up long enough to let him listen to my breathing). So Jess brought me home, got my prescription, loaded me up on liquids, jello, soup, etc.

I've been on the mend for the past couple of days, basically sleeping and resting the days away. The fever is gone, I'm much stronger, and its getting easier to swallow. I'm still on a liquid/soft food diet, but my goal is mashed potatoes tomorrow!! haha, I know, pathetic to crave something so simple!

So, that's my life for the past couple of days. Bummer that I had so many options of what I could be doing today, and instead I'm sitting on the couch "resting."

Well, my goal is to be back in the office on Monday, and still take it easy for the week.

Super Duper: My parents are coming through town tomorrow to check on me, even though I plan to be almost 100% tomorrow, it will be nice.
Super Pooper: besides the obvious, my final is on Tuesday!

Thursday, April 26, 2007

...randomness...

  • i overslept yesterday, didn't wake up til 9, didn't get to work til 10!!! i love that it didn't really even matter!!!
  • my soul wants to trust the Lord that He will provide all the VBS leadership that we need (yes we're still looking), but my flesh wants to freak out (b/c VBS is in 5 weeks!!!!)
  • today my boss told me to take an extra day off because I have to go to a seminar all day Saturday...too bad I have 2 assignments due that I haven't even started!!! so much for an extra day off!!!
  • oh, and tomorrow is my real day off...so much for that, I've been asked to come in and tour the new building with some kiddos. Don't get me wrong, it will be fun, but ON MY DAY OFF????
  • we've started a diet contest at work! We're divided up in to 2 teams and we'll weigh in every Monday on the honor system (because we don't want everyone knowing how much we each weigh). There is on girl, the accountant (who is prego and can't participate), who will be the tabulator of the percentage of weight lost. She will send us all update emails to let us know how each team is doing! I hope this is a great motivator!
  • next weekend my bro-in-law is graduating from Tarrelton State University. We'll be celebrating with him, also celebrating mother's day, also celebrate my oldest sister's (Katy) birthday (which is on mother's day), and then also throwing a little family baby shower for Kristy. Don't get me wrong, this is going to be super fun (and not to mention crazy), but did you notice that we'll be celebrating almost everyone in my family (except for me!!!) I don't mean to sound selfish, but its a bit of a bummer. Needless to say it will be a super fun, hectic weekend!!!

okay, i think that's the best (and worst) of it for now. until next time...

Super Duper: game night tonight with Jr Staff & spouses (yeah, I'm pumped about taking my spouse!!!)

Super Pooper: as always, apartment needs cleaning!

...diadelVBS...

Today on Baylor campus was the ever loved diadeloso... a favorite day of all baylor students. one with no classes, games, competitions, performers, movies, food, sleeping in, hanging with friends, doing nothing if you so choose, hypnotists, dancers, fun had by all...

WELL TODAY WAS NO DIADELOSO FOR ME!!!! no, rather i had a diadelVBS. you see, this weekend VBS is life. Friday night I have a dinner with all the department directors, and then Saturday morning, we have a training session. I love it all, but it's been crazy work. Today was set up day for all of the above, from MASSIVE decorations, to organizing resources & curriculum, to getting the news that one of my presenters for the training Saturday isn't going to be able to make it!!!!

So not only stressed, but exhausted, both emotionally and physically. Don't get me wrong, it's all worth it, and hopefully will turn out well, but in the mean time, I'm pooped.

Super Duper: a day off tomorrow (that's if I actually get to take it, I worked late today in hopes of not going in to the office, we'll see...of course I do have the dinner tomorrow night, but that doesn't count.)
Super Pooper: apparently it's not a joy to work in VBS, because we have to literally beg people, whatever happened to wanting to teach children about Jesus???

...Cinderella is Wicked...

well...ok, so maybe she's not, but having gone to see Cinderella on Thursday night and Wicked last night, you can understand my inspiration for the title of this blog.

Let me start with Thursday's viewing of Cinderella. A friend of mine and I had decided to go downtown to Miller Outdoor Theatre (Amphitheatre style) to see Cinderella. It was just a local production of the age old fantasy, but it was especially fun since I knew 2 of the actresses. It was super fun. A little windy and chilly, but overall fun. I must briefly mention the fact that I was sitting on my blanket, waiting for Vickie and her little girl to show up, when up walks Clif and his girlfriend. Clif the single guy from Tallowood that I was optimistic about getting to know a few months ago. Remember, I'm sitting by myself, so then he proceeds to act awkward and not know what to say, and then joins his friends, who are sitting on the blanket right next to mine. It was perfectly awkward until Vickie showed up. Oh, and at the end, when the cast was bowing, the fairy god mother flew out over the audience, but she didn't land back on the stage, instead she ended up in the orchestra pit...it was scary (and slightly funny). All in all a fun night sitting outside watching a nice show.

So then last night my loverly friend Jamie had bought us tickets to Wicked, as my Christmas present. I had heard such wonderful things about it. It was amazing!!! The vocalists, the costumes, the storyline, all of it, quality!!! Seriously, I would highly recommend it to anyone. I would like to say that even thought it is based on the Wizard of Oz, it's not really appropriate for children. Most of the storyline is over their head, and the kid sitting next to me fell asleep during the second act...such a waste of an expensive ticket.

2 great nights of the Theatre (said in a snobby British accent). See, there are a few perks to living in the big city!!!

Super Duper: Will & Kristi's shower is tomorrow! I hope all goes well!!
Super Pooper: VBS Dinner & Training is next weekend, yikes!
